Our Mission Statement
The College's department of research and planning integrates data, knowledge, and strategic thinking to facilitate continuous inprovment within MHCC.
The department of Research and Planning is the source for historical information, analyses,
and college statistics. The Department works closely with college employees and external
customers to collect, analyze, and provide data; to design and implement systems required for
management of business decisions, evaluation planning, accountability, compliance with state
and federal reporting requirements, accreditation, and student, faculty, and staff
recruiting and retention efforts.

- Facilitating and supporting the strategic planning processes of the College.
- Providing research data support on students, enrollment, courses, staff, local, regional, state and national demographics.
- Providing institutional information and analysis for decision support, assessment and evaluation.
- Facilitating continuous improvement practices using data.
- Using multiple data resources and national studies, allowing for comparisons and analyses that support planning and decision making.
- Assisting with accreditation requirements and efforts

The Faces of R&P:
Nancy Szofran
MHCC Vice President of Research, Planning, and Institutional Effectiveness. Supports and promotes improvement throughout the campus by way of strategic planning. Presents research data to the President and college leadership.
Tim Green
Research Associate. Designs and maintains databases for reporting of crucial data. Conducts various research projects.
